Youth Adventures Camp Summer 2020 Modified Camp Program for Grades 6-8

Youth Adventures Camp offers your camper entering Grades 6 - 8 an enriched and fun filled summer. Campers will spend time outdoors exploring and learning about nature, participating in group games, enjoy creating arts and crafts, and much more.  All games and activities are designed to promote social distancing while still enjoying all the fun. 

Campers will enjoy one week of session at Sunrise Park and the other week at McAlister/Middle School Campus.This summer, camp slots will be open to Suffield residents whose parents/caregivers are essential workers, called back to work, and our camps serve as their primary source of child care. After June 29, we will open camps up to all Suffield families, if there are slots available. 

Youth Adventures Camp provides a safe and welcoming environment along with non-stop fun and unforgettable experiences. The Parks and Recreation Staff is committed to offering new experiences that encourage imagination, growth and adventure.  Don't miss out on all the fun! 


Session 1:  July 13 - 24
Session 2:  July 27- August 7
Limited enrollment.

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Grades: Entering Grades 6 - 8
Location: Sunrise Park  AND McAlister/Middle School Campus

You must pre-register your child online to attend Extended Day.     
Extended Day hours: 8:30 a.m. and/or 4:00 p.m.
 
Do not assume if registered for Youth Adventures that you are automatically registered for Extended Day Program.  

General Information
  • Sneakers and socks are required throughout the day for activities. No open toe footwear.
  • Bring lunch, snack and healthy non-caffeinated drink (extra water on hot days) in a cooler with the child's name written on cooler.
  • PLEASE do not bring gum, money, personal or valuable items, IPods, MP3, cell phones, electronic devices, trading cards, squirt guns, etc.
  • Registration closes on the following dates and/or earlier if enrollment reaches maximum capacity.
  • For Session 1: July 9 at 11:00 a.m.
  • For Session 2: July 23
  • Limited enrollment for all options.

COVID-19 safety precautions along with CDC guidelines, as well as state and local policies.
  • Anyone (including staff) that enters the camp will have temperature taken daily, and results logged along with contact information for potential contact tracing.
  • Staff is required to wear approved masks
  • Campers are required to wear cloth face coverings when feasible. Staff safety and protection in addition to children is essential for success of the camps.
  • Every effort will be made to have campers stay socially distant while at camp
  • Entering and exiting of the camp areas are one way, to reduce potential contact with others
  • Drop off and pick up areas are at different locations for each group
  • Arts and Craft supplies are stored and used only for each group
  • All areas are cleaned at the end of camp daily
  • Bathroom protocol: Bathrooms are cleaned at the end of camp daily. Each group will utilize their own bathroom stalls and sinks. These will be designated with the groups color or the camper groups will be using two separate bathroom areas.
  • Any equipment used will be sanitized daily with a log being kept
  • Camp Counselors are dedicated to their groups.
  • Camp Director and P&R Staff will observe and work with camp staff and directors while socially distant.
